Tony Robbins was spot on (as he is much of the time) when he proclaimed. “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy.”

I work with people every day who are being held back from the star I see in them because of their unsupported beliefs.  And what makes it even sadder is they don’t recognise how it has affected their life till they are made aware.

Because I primarily work with people to aid clarity in communication, the negative beliefs they have around their ability to be a confident and skilled speaker is often holding them back from the success they deserve right across their business.

When you step out of your comfort zone and try something new, you acquire an ever-increasing
level of self-confidence to try even more things that may have caused anxiety in the past.

As you would imagine transforming one’s beliefs and values is often the biggest sticking point for most people when it comes to removing programmed negative attitudes towards sales people and selling.

We can describe our attitude as a like or dislike of something – it is a judgement.  These can be positive, negative or ambivalent.  Our attitudes arise from our inner framework of values and beliefs.  These will have developed over time and have been influenced by the world around us. When we understand how the negative attitudes towards sales and cold-calling affects our commitment to build business and discover the tools to change those attitudes we are on our way to making the selling process a more positive and beneficial experience.  Read More in my Book Good Girls Do Sell

What might be holding you back?

  • Do you believe you can be successful in your business?
  • Do you believe you are good at selling?
  • Do you believe you can clearly and concisely speak your message?

If not…now is the perfect time to consider what you are going to do about changing any negative and unsupported beliefs.

It can be as simple as choosing a different belief and adjusting your set-point of confidence.  The first step is to become conscious of your thoughts, your feelings and your body.

I’ve found that indicators that affect my overall state of inner being are a glimpse into what is happening in my outer life, personally, professionally and financially.   It takes discipline to notice and then to apply what I see to making a new choice.

  1. Your whole being is representative of your thoughts
  2. With discipline you can raise your set-point
  3. When you are feeling good, your business will benefit

“I would never die for my beliefs because
I might be wrong.” … Bertrand Russell
