Do notice there are some people you feel instantly connected to but others who no matter how hard you try to build rapport nothing works? Have you wondered why?

Just imagine how much more success you could have if you knew how to harness the power to build instant rapport with clients and prospects.  A level of rapport that would mean they would hear your message and take action.

British writer and journalist, H.M. Tomlinson said, “We see things not as they are, but as we are.” And so do your clients and prospects.  I find that statement so empowering.  “We see things not as they are, but as we are.”

That means when we have the skills to step into another’s view of the world, we can share their vision, speak their language, feel their pain and understand their viewpoint.

In your world. Your personality also determines what you sort for and what you look for. If you change who you are then everything around you in the world will change as well. We have certain ways of seeing and filtering the world.

We really can’t see anything other than who we are. What you see is you and what others see is them.

Perception is projection is an amazing awareness tool— awareness of yourself. Practising positive projections can really result in a happy, productive day, and can give you control to turn around on those days that feel like they will never end.

You’re likely to have had experiences of perception is projection already. Networking events are a great example. Think back to some where you’ve been really up for it, and it’s turned out to be an even better night than you anticipated, where everyone you have talked to has been a great contact and you’ve gained instant rapport with them. Compare these to those events that you haven’t really felt like going to and that have ended with you leaving with nothing of any meaning. That’s no coincidence. Read More in my Book Good Girls Do Sell

Consider how much that would benefit your business if you could connect with a…

  • A Visual person by showing them how something works
  • An Auditory person by explaining an idea
  • A Kinaesthetic person by getting a feel for their needs
  • An Auditory Digital person by making sense

It may seem like a simplistic method to pigeon-hole people, but understanding what language to use to build connection is a vital tool in developing rapport with prospective clients.

Remember…

  1. We see things as we are
  2. Step into your clients world to see things as they are
  3. Develop the knowledge to be able to build rapport with all styles

“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between
are the doors of perception….”Aldous Huxley
